I have never been to Paris, but would love to. I almost made it there last year but plans changed. I so clearly imagined what it would be like to stand in this exact spot. To paint there!
There's something so delightful about travel. Escaping the everyday and being on your own time table, seeing new things. Sleeping in beds made by someone else, and someone magically cleaning up for you while you're out exploring.
One of my favorite things about traveling is when you finally are seeing what you've been imagining and anticipating. Especially icons and amazing places that you've seen a million times in photos. My most memorable moment like this was seeing Yosemite Valley. It was hard to believe we were standing there, looking at it in real life. There were several other people and we were all silently looking upon the scene. The sun had just set and it was calm and serene. It felt surreal.
I'm so thankful to have been blessed to travel around this earth a bit and see some of the different parts that make up all of God's amazingly diverse creation! Such beauty.
I painted in Central Park once and it was dreamy. It was a perfect fall sunny day. I hope to stand someday on that big lawn between the square trees in front of the Eiffel Tower, but for now instead of experiencing it for real, I enjoyed the pleasure of painting it from home. This was so fun, I'm looking forward to possibly painting a travel series, of places I've been, and places I dream of going.
